From Cheap Eats to Five-Star Dining

Updated: Jul 7, 2018

Playa del Carmen has it all when it comes to restaurants, from cheap eats to five-star restaurants, there is plenty to tantalize your taste buds.

5th Avenue has plenty of options for you, but they do come with tourist prices. Try something off of 5th Avenue for a nice change of pace.

El Fogon - Authentic Mexican Cuisine

El Fogon is a favorite local hot spot with late-night tacos in a super casual and humble atmosphere.

From 1:00 Pm until the late hours of the night, this restaurant is always packed. Stop for some authentic Mexican cuisine, a crisp, refreshing beer or a margarita with a kick. Great value for your money, quick and tasty. You will probably go back more than once.

Three locations to choose from, but the one closest to Walmart has the best atmosphere and the most tables. #ElFogon

Don Chendos - Chicago Style Pizza & Pasta

Owned by an expat Newyorker, Russel, this is probably the best deep dish pizza in all of Playa. Generation old recipes, fused with a Chicago flare and a little New York attitude make this place a perfect stop if you're craving Italian.

If you're not in the mood for pizza, dive into their famous homemade pasta and meatballs, the sauce is to die for! There are also gluten-free pasta options and newly on their menu, gluten-free pizza.

Ingredients are always fresh, hand selected by the Owner and Chef, including freshly grown herbs and spices from their garden.

Great value for your money and made with love! #DonChendos

Lido's - Beach Club & Restuarant

If you're getting a little antsy from the quiet of Xaman Ha and looking for a bit of action, Lido Beach Club is the place to be and is just a short flip-flop walk away.

With good eats, drinks and great people, you can pull up a sunbed, rest in the shade, swing on the bar swings and enjoy the music with front seats to the Caribbean Sea.

Happy hour daily!

Tiny Tiki Hut - Mexican, Asian, Japanese Fusion

This Tiny Tiki Hut is gaining popularity for their friendly service, great prices, and top-notch food. The menu is simple, yet thoughtful.

The owner Juan and staff go out of their way to make you feel at home and appreciated. They make everything to order, which is incredible for those with dietary restrictions. Oh La La - International Cuisine

Owned by a beautiful couple, George and Mikaela, this nine-table International Cusine restaurant is defiantly a treat.

It's one of the more expensive restaurants in Playa, but worth it. The staff treat you like old friends and will bend over backward to make sure your experience is unique and memorable. You will need a reservation for this tiny gem.
